CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
This conference will convene tuberculosis experts from throughout the Pacific Islands and United States mainland to engage in learning and discussion on the management and control of TB and provide training and networking opportunities for TB professionals in the Pacific Islands region. The conference is comprised of plenary sessions and breakout sessions with tracks for clinicians, nurses and outreach workers, laboratory staff, and program managers.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This conference is designed for staff involved in TB management, prevention, and control from each of the USAPI jurisdictions and Hawaii, as well as representatives from various agencies including the CDC, Australian Respiratory Council, Diagnostic Laboratory Services, and World Health Organization. Representatives from other Pacific Islands are welcome to attend.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be better able to:

  • Describe current challenges and successful approaches to tuberculosis (TB) prevention and care.
  • Describe strategies for screening and management of latent TB infection (LTBI) and TB disease.
  • Discuss advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of TB.
  • Develop strategies for the care of TB patients in special situations to ensure prompt diagnosis and effective management.
  • List approaches for addressing clinical and social challenges in the management of patients with TB to achieve successful outcomes.

Call for Abstracts

 

POSTER SUBMISSION DOWNLOAD

 

The PITCA abstract committee welcomes the submission of abstracts for poster presentations on all

aspects of tuberculosis control.  Relevant topics include TB epidemiology, clinical, nursing and outreach,

laboratory, education and training, as well as outcomes of program initiatives.

Deadline: Friday, October 28, 2022

How to submit an abstract:

Please follow the recommended length and language guidelines:

  • Limit words to 350 or less (title and authors are not inclusive in word count)
  • Abstracts must be in English

Please make sure to include the following in your abstract:

  • Descriptive title, list of authors, and affiliations
  • Background/statement of problem/objectives of the analysis
  • Methods
  • Results/key findings
  • Conclusions

Abstracts will be reviewed and accepted on the basis of on-time receipt and quality, methodology, and

relevance to TB control/elimination, as determined by the Abstract Committee. Notifications of abstract

acceptance will be sent via email with details about poster dimensions, etc.  At least one co-author must

attend the conference to present the poster. Travel scholarships for poster presenters will not be

provided. You may submit abstracts that have been presented at other conferences.

Posters will remain up for viewing throughout the PITCA conference. Poster discussion sessions will be

scheduled during the conference.  Some posters may be selected for 5-minute oral presentations during

PITCA plenary sessions.
